On March 21, 2024, an official ceremony was held for the opening of the new "KODOKAN Spirit" Judo Center in Astana. Participants in the opening ceremony included the Deputy Akim of Astana, Yesset Baiken; the President of the Republican Judo Federation, Kuanysbek Yessekeev; the Chairman of the Sports Committee of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerbol Myrzabosynov; sports veterans; presidents of national sports federations; athletes; heads and representatives of diplomatic missions; as well as residents and guests of the capital.

This 1200 square meter Center, built with private investment by the president of the Astana Judo Federation, Gaisa Jumaliyev—who has already constructed a similar sports complex in Uralsk—will enable over 1000 children to practice judo. Besides the main hall, equipped with stands for 180 spectators, Olympic-quality Japanese tatami, modern ventilation, and lighting, the sports complex includes a multifunctional gym, two small rooms for group classes, a comfortable waiting area for parents, and a cozy Oneshott brand coffee shop.

According to Kuanysbek Yessekeev, President of the Judo Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the technical equipment of the Center creates the most comfortable conditions for children and adults. Training is conducted by titled coaches, masters of sports of international class, including participants of the Olympic Games, world, and Asian championships. The Astana city judo team also trains here.

Yesset Baiken, Deputy Akim of Astana, noted that the new multifunctional sports complex, "Kodokan Spirit" Judo Center, located in the developing capital district of "Zhagalaу," will contribute to the development of mass sports and the proper upbringing of the younger generation through the teaching of Japanese wrestling, judo. Developing physically, children will receive examples of the right way of life and high moral settings from coaches to withstand the negative trends of modern society.

In turn, the head of the capital's judo federation stated that the opening of the new hall would become a good platform for the development of domestic judo. "I hope this will contribute to the development of judo's mass appeal in our country and that someday this Judo Center will produce Olympic champions," says Gaisa Jumaliyev.

Currently, enrollment is open for children and adult groups. Children from the age of 6 and older are accepted. To celebrate the opening of the Center, a special offer for the first 100 children includes the choice of a kimono with the Center's emblem as a gift or a monthly discount on the subscription.
