Astana, May 28, 2025 - Today, the capital hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the new service center of the international company Alstom. This event marks another step in the company’s continued industrial development in the region and the strengthening of the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and France.
Alstom has been operating in Kazakhstan for over 15 years and has launched two factories, including the locomotive assembly plant in Astana, where locomotives are produced and serviced.
The new Alstom service center is designed to carry out preventive and repair work, including maintenance services for electric locomotives.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Laurent Saint-Martin, France’s Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and French Nationals Abroad, Mr. Sylvain Giguet, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Kazakhstan, Ms. Gulsara Mereyevna Arystankulova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to France, Mr. Erik Serikovich Meirkhanov, Deputy Akim of the city of Astana, and other representatives of Kazakhstani companies, including the Astana Development Center, which supported the implementation of the project.
Given Kazakhstan’s strategic location on the modern Silk Road, connecting Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Russia, and its status as home to one of the world’s largest wide-gauge railway networks (over 21,000 km), the creation of the Alstom service center will become a significant contribution to the development of the country’s logistics and manufacturing infrastructure.
