Astana has become a member of the international organization - the World Tourism Alliance (WTA)
31.10.2024On October 30, 2024, the city of Astana, as a tourist brand of Visit Astana, became an official member of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA). Astana's accession to the international organization took place at the Annual Meeting of the WTA within the framework of the International Tourism Forum WTA • Xianghu Dialogue 2024, which takes place from October 29 to November 1 in Sanya, Hainan Province, China. The Forum was organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, UNWTO, the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), the European Tourism Commission (ETC), the Global Tourism Economics Forum (GTEF) and the Asia-Pacific Tourism Association (PATA).
The World Tourism Alliance is an international organization established in China that unites national and regional tourism associations, travel companies, destinations, research institutes, media, etc. public and private tourism companies. Today, the WTA has 242 members from 44 countries, including more than 45 industry associations, 80 major travel companies and 14 educational institutions. Among the WTA members are such well—known organizations as CNN International, Qatar Tourism, Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, Japan Airlines, United Airlines, Hyatt Hotels, Aeroflot, Airbnb and many others.
By joining the WTA, Astana strengthens international cooperation in the field of tourism and opens up new prospects for promoting the tourism potential of the capital of Kazakhstan at the global level. In 2024, 22 new organizations joined the WTA, and Astana is proud to be one of them.
The Xianghu Dialogue 2024 Forum will last until November 1, during which leading representatives of the tourism industry and international organizations from 45 countries will discuss current economic trends and new directions in tourism.
This year's forum is held under the theme "Geared Up for a New Venture – The Future is Now", encouraging participants to discuss the current state and prospects of the tourism development industry. Among the key topics: sustainable tourism development, strengthening international cooperation, expanding tourism cooperation between countries, as well as the role of innovation and "green" technologies in the travel industry.
Astana, as a new member of the World Tourism Alliance, opens up new opportunities for the development of international tourism and attracting foreign visitors, contributing to increasing the attractiveness of Kazakhstan in the world tourism arena.
