According to preliminary data from the Bureau of National Statistics, Kazakhstan’s gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 6.5% year-on-year over January–December 2025. The growth was driven by the implementation of economic diversification measures undertaken on the instruction of the Head of State.
The main contribution to economic growth came from industry, transport, construction, and trade. The industrial production index reached 7.4%, while the manufacturing sector grew by 6.4%, supported by increased output in mechanical engineering, food production, chemical manufacturing, and oil refining.
Positive dynamics were recorded in most regions of the country, including Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent. The transport and warehousing sector demonstrated growth of 20.4%, driven by increased freight and passenger transportation, as well as the expansion of logistics and auxiliary services.
The construction sector grew by 15.9% amid the implementation of infrastructure and social projects. A total of 20.1 million square meters of housing was commissioned, which is 5.1% higher than in the previous year.
Trade increased by 8.9%, primarily due to the wholesale segment, where turnover of machinery and equipment, pharmaceutical products, vehicles, and food products rose. Growth in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries amounted to 5.9%, while the information and communications sector grew by 3.6%.
Overall, macroeconomic indicators point to the sustainable development of the country’s key economic sectors.
